The health and safety of our guests and employees always have and will always be a priority at The Thompson House. With COVID-19 (Coronavirus) spreading all over the world, we are making some adjustments to our operations starting when we open for our 140th summer season on May 22, 2020. Hopefully, most of these adjustments are temporary, and we’ll keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Before Leaving Your Home

We want you to have a wonderful vacation at The Thompson House, but for the health and safety of all guests and staff at The Thompson House, we ask that you postpone your vacation if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). These symptoms include cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell. Please contact us, so we know you will not be traveling. We will give you a gift certificate in the amount of your deposit, and hopefully see you sometime in the future.

Arrival and Departure

We ask that only one person from each reservation comes into the office to check-in and check out, with their ID and form of payment. Guests should wear a mask when indoors. Only one reservation will be checked in or out at a time. If there is someone already being helped, please stand no less than 6 feet away from them. All equipment at the front desk will be new or wiped down for each person. Your key and credit card will be sanitized before being given to you.

Dining Room and Meals

Our Dining Room will be opening with reduced occupancy starting on July 2. Each reservation will have their own table in the Dining Room. Guests may take their meals to go if they prefer. We ask that guests do not wait for their party in the lobby.

For some time we will continue to offer a la carte to-go breakfast for guests to order and eat in their rooms or around our beautiful property. Our a la carte to-go breakfast may not be available at certain times. To-Go Breakfast Menu

At this time, we cannot offer a continental breakfast. Unless you booked your reservation with our meal package, no food is included in your stay at The Thompson House.

Entertainment

At this time, we will not be scheduling entertainment for the spring. We are looking into different entertainment options that are safer for guests and entertainers.

Activities

All outdoor activities equipment will be kept at the front desk and cleaned after each use. Guests are encouraged to bring their own equipment. Tennis rackets will be available for use, but guests will have to bring their own tennis balls or buy from the front desk. Indoor activities will not be available at this time. Our pool is now open for the season. We’ve made some adjustments to the use of the pool including wiping down the tables and chairs regularly.

Housekeeping/Rooms

As always, rooms will be cleaned before each guest is allowed to enter. Whenever possible, rooms will be vacant for two days after checkout and cleaned before guests arrive. For the safety of our guests and staff, daily housekeeping will not be available at this time. Guests who wish to have their sheets or towels changed will be able to do so by contacting the front desk. Staff will bring guests new linen and a laundry bag to collect used linen. We ask that if you need your trash emptied that you put your trash can outside your door and notify the front desk.

Public Spaces

Guests are asked to maintain social distancing when outside, including the fire pit and pool area. The Recreation Room will be closed until further notice. The arcade and fitness room will also not be available at this time. The restrooms in the lobby will be available for guests who are checking in or out, or in the Dining Room. All other public restrooms will not be available. Guests should use the restrooms in their room. The guest computer in the lobby will not be available at this time.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

All staff will wear masks at all times when interacting with guests. Please do not be offended when staff does not shake your hand; it is for your safety as well as their safety. Guests are to bring their own mask (due to supply issues) to wear when indoors or unable to social distance.

Vending and Ice Machines

For the safety of all of our guests, the vending and ice machines will remain empty at this time. Ice and water will be available at the front desk. Please call the office ahead of time, so they know to expect you.

The Thompson House is absolved of all liability for anyone infected with Coronavirus during their stay. By staying at The Thompson House, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. We will take all measuresĀ necessary to keep our property as safe and comfortable as possible for our guests amid the Coronavirus pandemic, but please understand that there is a shared responsibility between guests and The Thompson House.
