Below is our 2015 Spring Letter

Sure – we love the snow and the winter – but really!!

Warm wishes from your Thompson House Family up here in the great northern Catskills in beautiful Windham, NY. Last week we thought maybe we were mysteriously relocated to the Yukon! We

hope this letter finds you well and anxiously waiting for your “yellow” envelope to arrive meaning SPRING is here! It has been an interesting winter to say the least. Like everyone in the northeast we are all waiting for the warm weather to get here to thaw out our bones and get ready for a great summer.

Our families are all doing well – from our youngest Maddox to our oldest, John, we are all enjoying the great amount of snow that has fallen this season. John comes over every morning to help shovel off the skating rink and Maddox has already hit the slopes with his dad, Kurt. Even Dasha has been seen shushing off the top of Windham Mt. with some great instruction from Evan. The Pines hill has also brought many smiles as we’ve introduced Maddox to a great sleigh riding place. It seems like just yesterday it was Kurt, Brent and Evan sledding at the Pines. Boy how time flies!

Last fall John and Mickey (Eric’s parents) were given an award from the Community of Windham Foundation in recognition of their “altruistic dedication and benevolent service toward the betterment of the Windham community”.   All of their children and most of their grandchildren were at the ceremony to witness this great honor. This is the 3rd year the award was given in honor of former town Supervisor, Pat Meehan, and Brent of course questioned who could possibly have done more than his grandparents!

For our outdoor enthusiasts we will again be offering discounted golf to our local golf courses on the mountain top. There is also some great news about the addition of a bridge for the Windham Path. Now our guests’ can access the path right at the Windham Pharmacy right on Rt. 296. You will no longer have to walk along the road to see the beautiful nature of Windham and the surrounding Catskill Mountains. Also, the NY Dept. of Conservation has announced the expansion of the biking and hiking trails along the Elm Ridge/Escarpment Trail system. Now we will have almost 20 miles of mountain biking and hiking trails just a few miles from our resort.

Our 2015 summer season will begin on May 22, Memorial Day weekend and continue through to October 12, Columbus Day weekend. We are anticipating the weather will be warmer than it has been the past few weeks and hope that you can join us for some fun in the mountains.

Please note that we will not be answering the phone from March 28th to April 12th, but you are always welcome to send us an e-mail at
